We are very saddened to learn of the passing of one of our favorite Camp Jam artists. On August 5th, 2008, Robert Hazard died from complications after surgery for cancer. Our sincerest condolences go out to his wife Susan and his children. We will miss you, your smile, your music and your kindness. We love you Robert.
"You're walkin down a dirt road by some shady grove at dusk. The campsites are glowing in a ring around the lake. There's music in the air, guitars strumming and humming with the cicadas in the cottonwoods, voices raised high wail out across the water and woods and out into the farm fields beyond. They're selling crafts and t-shirts in tents along the road. People stop to talk and laugh and share the music. A poet slips a dog-eared piece of paper into my jacket pocket. It was a good one. You're with a friend drinking a cold beer, she's wearin' your hat, your lucky hat. Your boots are deep in the rut now. The sun slips away, but the music goes on long into the night. You never forget a night like that. It's the real deal. You're at the Camp Jam and you keep going back cause you just can't get enough. I'll see you there."
NO GLASS - This is one of few rules that
the campground imposes on us. Please respect their rules. NO
GLASS. We found broken glass all over the place, this is dangerous,
especially on the beach and in the pavilion. Please!!!! If we find you
with glass bottles, we will confiscate them!! You have been warned.
Credit cards - The
campground will no longer be accepting credit cards for ticket purchases in
the store. If you do not purchase your tickets in advance, bring CASH.
We cannot accept checks or credit cards at the gate.
Reservations - The
campground will not be accepting reservations for the fall jam until June
15th. Also, they will not accept Thursday night e-mail reservations,
you must call and speak to a person!!
Firewood - One more thing, the campground
has been advised that campers CANNOT bring firewood into the campground.
They have been warned that there is so much disease in outside firewood,
that there is a risk of bringing it into the campground and infecting their
trees!! Please buy your firewood from the campground when you arrive.
Camp Jam rule - When you enter the festival
grounds, you MUST put on your wristband, we cannot be responsible for
tracking you down to make sure you have it on over the weekend! You
will not be permitted to enter unless you are wearing your wristband.
NO EXCEPTIONS.
Gerry’s Family Barbeque – Reverend George and friends will once again be serving up some of the best BBQ Chicken and Ribs you’ll ever taste. They will also have a variety of salads, veggies, desserts and beverages and once again, the crew will be bringing breakfast goods, juices and coffee, etc. Why bother with all the fuss and mess, just eat with Gerry, George and the girls. By the way, these folks think we are CRAZY!! Dancing all night in the rain last year just confirmed it for them. Be sure to stop in and say hello.
New this year will be easy
stuff for the kids, pizza, soft pretzels, Italian Ice and the like.
